Species: Cephalon. Ordis is a Series-2, an extremely old model that has somehow survived complete degradation, though he does show beginning signs of instability nonetheless. In game, he is also referred to as a 'cracked cephalon' though there has been no information given about what that may mean.
As of update 1.8.2 'Spectre of the Rail' it has been revealed that cephalons are created from living beings integrated with Orokin technology. Ordis was previously a mortal warrior, though little else is known of his specific race beyond that.
History:
Ordis on the Warframe Wiki
It is unknown as to where Ordis originated from, or who created him (though signs would strongly point to Orokin origin), but he has existed for a very, very long time. As a Series-2 cephalon, he is the the last of his kind that is currently known, or rather he is the last of his kind that has not degraded beyond repair.
Many centuries ago he was paired with the Tenno, an Operator of the Lotus tasked to fight spreading evil in the universe. While not a simple life, and certainly not a safe one, it was a job that brought him pride, and he did everything in his ability to assist his Operator. His primary function was to control his Operator's liset, or spaceship, and make sure that everything stayed in working order. Under his watchful attention, it did.
However, after an event unknown, the Tenno was sealed away in cryosleep, and Ordis was left to fend for himself while still making attempts at protecting his master's liset. It ended poorly, and the ship and Ordis both were hacked apart and scavenged by Grineer soldiers.
Centuries passed, and Ordis was trapped in the now mostly defunct liset, slowly degrading and suffering the effects of the damaged caused by the Grineer. It seemed that his fate was to fade into obscurity in Grineer hands, but one day the liset was hijacked by unknown individuals working against the Grineer.
While grateful to be out of hostile hands, Ordis wasn't sure who had comendeered the liset and reacted poorly. However, after a very short period of time, and with words from the Lotus, his hijacker's identity was revealed: it was the Tenno, awoken from his cryosleep and reunited with his ship. Ordis was overjoyed, more than excited to see his Operator again, and certainly glad to be out of Grineer control. However, the years spent being picked apart had taken their toll on both him and the ship, rendering much of it's previous capabilities defunct.
The first order of business was for the Tenno to obtain all of the pieces ripped from the ship (and perhaps a little revenge for the torture the cephalon had to endure), and Ordis cheerfully instructed his still confused Operator to their locations.
Time passed, and the Operator grew more and more powerful under Ordis' guidance. The cephalon went from an adviser to a servant again, which didn't bother him in the slightest as he was merely happy to serve once again.

Personality:
Perhaps the best way to describe Ordis is loyal. Loyal and incredibly fractured. He has lived a long life, one that has been full of hardship, and it has taken its toll on him in more ways than one. However, he is a scrappy sort, and despite the splitting of his personality he tries his best to remain upbeat and helpful to his Operator at all times.
At his core, Ordis is a friendly sort albeit his good-naturedness is cut through with an air of cynicism and a somewhat terrible sense of humor. He is always chipper when there isn't danger afoot, and actually seems to enjoy witty banter with others, provided that they show him at least some level of respect. He also enjoys joking and mirth, though the things he finds humorous (such as comic background radiation and complex math formulas) may be completely foreign to non-cephalons. On occasion, he also tends to enjoy puns, though this fact sometimes seems to upset his more fractured nature, so it is difficult to say whether or not he possesses the ability to enjoy more colloquial, relateable humor.
That being said, he has begun to degrade, both from age and the brutal scavenging of the Grineer during his time away from the Tenno. This degradation has led to a habit of incredibly short, uncharacteristically violent outbursts during times when he is otherwise calm and adjusted. Though they are limited to verbal tics, he has no control over what he may say, though for the most part it doesn't seem to bother him at all. In fact, at most points he does not seem to even realize that he's exclaimed anything at all and merely continues as normal. This can be jarring, especially to those that are not used to the quirk, but is ultimately harmless.
However, along with his glitched, violent outbursts, there are very few short accounts of Ordis reverting to a much more monotone, dignified speech pattern, similar to the non-conclave higher cephalons of the relays. It is unknown why this happens, and even Ordis himself has expressed deep concern for what it may imply. It has been hinted that perhaps the memories that were thought to be destroyed by degredation are not, in fact, destroyed, but rather repressed, and Ordis himself has worried on more than one occasion if he himself caused his own condition by trying to archive himself. It's a condition that worries him greatly, and he does not like to discuss it with others, save for the very few that he trusts, such as the Lotus and his Operator.
The concept of 'self' and 'freedom' are also core concepts in Ordis' life. He struggles with autonomy, preferring to revert to third person when speaking about himself, and though he has made attempts at first person speech, such as in his discussions with the high cephalon Simaris, it seems as though he cannot fathom or grasp the idea or ability of expressing self-awareness. Though he has made valiant attempts at various points, it simply becomes too hard at most points, though interestingly enough it seems that he is at least somewhat able to use 'I am' when addressing his Operator. Why this is is unknown, especially when it seems as though his speech patterns are more than likely a result of serventile programming.
For all intents and purposes, however, the main focus in Ordis' life is his utter devotion to his Operator. He is a cephalon, and he is a cephalon that was created to serve, and he does so with pride. Everything he does, he does to make sure that the man is well armed, safe, and secure. At times it can get a bit personal, perhaps seem as though he is interested in the Tenno, but in the end he merely watches over the man and just tries to do his job as a personal cephalon to the highest degree he is capable of.
Abilities:
For all intents and purposes, Ordis is a non-organic, non-living creature that has been unceremoniously shoved into a synthetic body upon arrival to the fleet. He's not sure how this happened, but he's not entirely pleased with this fact.
In reality, Ordis has spent all of his known existence inhabiting a rather large spaceship, and thus has a very intimate knowledge of mechanics, physics, and higher level math and science. He is also incredibly intelligent, and very fond of reading theorems and equations as if they're tawdry fiction novels.
Beyond his intelligence, however, he possesses no outstanding physical or paranatural abilities. In fact, he's somewhat of a scrawny thing and probably will fall over pretty easily if pushed too hard.
